Best Places to Unwind After Work in London: London Bridge Edition

Words by Rebecca Magee

Hey there! I’m Rebecca, the newest member of the Sandbox team! My role is all about ensuring you’re having a great experience with us, so you’ll be seeing a lot of me around (lucky you, right?). But enough about me – let’s dive into what you came here for…

Adulting can be tough, and after a long day in the office, it’s essential to take a step back and recharge. Work can be demanding, but it’s equally important to make time for yourself and unwind. Whether you’re treating yourself to a pint and good conversation or enjoying a meal with colleagues, I’ve got you covered with my favourite spots near London Bridge to kick back, relax, and shake off the workday stress.

Museum Lates

Several of London’s top galleries and museums now offer late-night openings, making them the perfect destination for post-work unwinding. Many of these events feature talks, live performances, and food and drink options. One of our personal favourites is Tate Lates at the Tate Modern – open until 10 pm, with free entry and no need to book in advance. What’s not to love? The next one is on 29th November, and we’ll definitely be there!

Grab a Bite to Eat

After a busy day, there’s nothing like a delicious, satisfying meal. El Pastor is one of my top picks for Mexican food, and their signature Al Pastor tacos are a dream! Barrafina is perfect for tapas-style dining, while Rambutan is a must-try for Sri Lankan cuisine (if you can get a table, that is!). Whether you’re in the mood for a hearty meal or something a little more adventurous, these spots have got you covered.

Hit the Pub

For those beer connoisseurs out there, head straight for the Bermondsey Beer Mile to cap off your day with a refreshing pint. This stretch of craft breweries and pubs – spanning over a mile through South London – is ideal for a Thirsty Thursday (or any day of the week, really!). Top picks along the mile include Southwark Brewing Co, These Days Aperitivo Bar, and Hiver Beers (their honey-infused beers are absolutely divine).

Try an Escape Room

Looking for something a little more adventurous? Skip the boring icebreaker games and try your hand at an escape room! Challenge your coworkers (or friends) to a race against time – who knows, you might even beat your boss. Escape Rooms in London Bridge offer a range of themed rooms, from exploring Egypt’s ancient pyramids to pulling off a daring heist in London’s most secure museum. It’s the perfect team-building activity – or just a way to blow off some steam.
