WHERE TO EAT IN BOROUGH

Words by Ethan Altern-Bance

Borough Market

Being only a 30-second walk away, I’m sure our Sandbox members know what we have at our fingertips. With over 200 stalls, there’s something for everyone, from a Pad Thai to the most insane pulled pork focaccia from ‘The Black Pig’, or why not go for an Aperol on a Friday, we won’t tell.

Atis

Now this is a sandbox favourite. These salad bowls are like no other, the perfect balance between all the nutrition you could possibly need, with the most unique flavours and combinations. Atis really have created the ultimate salads.  If you are feeling indecisive, Charlie’s a regular so don’t be afraid to ask for recommendations.

Bao

Now who doesn’t love a Bao bun? Quick, easy and the most incredible bitesize lunch option. Just opposite Borough Market, this Taiwanese chain has everything from Bao buns to some wicked fried chicken.

Terry’s Cafe

A proper diner-style cafe, with all the meat sourced from Smithfields and our Borough Market. Terry’s offers the ultimate fry-ups and sarnies for east-end workers. The all-day bistro menu offers home cooking at its best, bangers and mash, ham, egg and chips you name it.

Bankside Sandwich Bar

£3 sandwiches, dozens of options and less than a 10-minute walk away. Need I say more? A lot of the time I’m looking to spice up my sandwich options, and how could I say no to a Caribbean and jerk chicken, or breakfast sandwich? Ditch the usual ham sarnie and try Bankside.
